morphology

Branch of linguistics concerned with the internal structure of words 1) derivational morphology - word-formation by means of derivational morphemes. Examples of processes of derivation are prefixation (example: 'inaccurate' –> 'in-' + 'accurate') and suffixation (example: 'baker' –> 'bake' + '-er') 2) inflectional morphology - differentiation and marking of a lexeme according to its different realisations / word-forms depending on their grammatical function.
